North Park is recognized for its historic Craftsman and Mediterranean architecture, and is considered one of the “hippest neighborhoods” by San Diegans and by national publications, including Bloomberg. That’s because North Park is home to great restaurants, farmers’ markets, craft breweries, arts, theater, music and concerts. All of this is within walking distance of the B&B. North Park borders spectacular Balboa Park, home of the 1915 Pan American Exhibition, and now the home of more than 20 museums – a cultural center of San Diego.
Arguably the best Italian restaurant in San Diego is Alexander’s on 30th, a five-minute walk, and the best coffee and authentic Italian pizza in San Diego is Caffe Calabria, a 12-minute walk.
It is a quiet, residential block, but has the normal sounds of a vibrant neighborhood, with people taking evening walks, walking their dogs and socializing.
The B&B has a dedicated, private parking space directly on the property. That being said, Uber and Lyft are the best alternatives for going out for the evening in both North Park and nearby Downtown because the distance is short and there would be no need to pay for parking.
For dinner in North Park, we recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to the restaurant and then walking home.
You are minutes away from the best that San Diego has to offer. The North Park name comes from its proximity to beautiful Balboa Park, home to hundreds of exotic tropical plants and trees that flourish in the temperate San Diego climate. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo are just a five-minute drive away. The vibrant Downtown Gaslamp Quarter and the waterfront are just 10 minutes away. The Coronado Beach, recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world, is just 12 minutes away. If you are visiting San Diego on business, you have easy access to downtown, the 5 Freeway and the 805 Freeway to Qualcomm and the Sorrento Valley technology center. The taxi ride from the San Diego Airport is just 6 miles or 12 minutes to the San Diego Bed and Breakfast.
